As the name suggests, you’re about to begin your journey towards mastering the Japanese language. Learn the basic concept behind the language in order to kickstart your next step as a beginner!

As you get started, you will need to learn the characters that exist in the Japanese language. As a beginner, you will learn to read and write about 50 hiragana, katakana, and kanji characters. On top of this, you will learn phrases around basic greetings and self-introductions.

Once you get comfortable working with the language, we go over some grammatical tenses, which will allow you to understand the content of short conversations spoken slowly in everyday situations.

Once you’ve mastered the art of Hiragana and Katakana, you will begin to prepare for the next step towards intermediate level. You will be able to read and write about 100 Kanji characters and understand short sentences on familiar topics in daily life.

As you familiarize yourself around common phrases and sentence structures, you will be able to hold simple conversations and ask questions, as well as making requests and proposals.

As an intermediate level student, you will learn to read and write approximately 300 Kanji and phrases. With this, you will read and understand longer passages and will form sentences to explain situations. At this level, students can easily communicate with the locals when traveling to Japan. As a step up, students will begin to understand the difference between written and spoken Japanese.

Students at this level will comfortably speak Japanese and are able to use both casual and polite language depending on the situation. You will have had enough practice and experience to listen at near-native speed and watch and understand Japanese movies and dramas to some extent. In addition to understanding everyday-use Japanese, students will start to learn specific phrases or language that are used in a wider range of situations, not just day-to-day.

The final touches! Students at this level will have the skills to hold a natural conversation with native Japanese speakers. Extended vocabulary leads to speaking with consideration for others and choosing appropriate words with subtle phrases and synonyms appropriately depending on the situation. Read and understand Japanese news articles without assistance. Further, students will understand technical terms, slang and jargon in business scenarios.
